Sotto Voce is a unique female ensemble, playing classical music compositions, jazz standards, rock&roll, and pop music hits under artistic direction of the world-famous flute virtuoso Grzegorz Olkiewicz.

History

Italian name of the orchestra was taken from the romantic true story about Grzegorz Olkiewicz who, coming back from the long tourneé, decided to give his wife a gift. He decided to give his wife a bottle of marvelous perfume with two notes painted on it. The clasp of the bottle looked like the silver tuning fork.

When four months later the first in Poland, experimental orchestra was created, charmed by
the gift Mrs Olkiewicz named her orchestra Sotto Voc which means 'softly, in whisper'.
In this way Laura Biagiotti's perfume became an inspiration for the artists...

'Sotto Voce' was founded in May of 1997. Since then the orchestra has appeared during many cultural and business events. The members of this group are young and gifted female musicians who come from every part of Poland. All the artists are prize winners in several contests.

The trump of Sotto Voce is its professionalism, but the thing which makes this orchestra really different from the others is charm, beauty and elegance of playing women.
"(...) A great attribute of Sotto Voce is their professionalism, and what distinguishes this orchestra is beauty, charm, and elegance of the performing artists.
Music of these young ladies is much more sophisticated due to their hairstyles, jewellery and artistic clothes designed exclusively for Sotto Voce by Stage Fashion Studio 'Coloris' from Wroc³aw.
